SLT PERFORMANCE INDICATOR: WHAT IS IT?!

SUPER LEAGUE SCORING SYSTEM

So you’ve noticed the numbers we’ve given all our Ranked Athletes and you’re wondering what it’s all about, what have we drawn on in order to come up with this scoring system for SLT SWIM, SLT BIKE, SLT RUN and TRANSITIONS and what does PERFORMANCE mean and who is PERFORMANCE better than anyone else?

Well – easy, we have used the existing times set at the two previous SLT events (Hamilton Island and Jersey) and distilled each individual performance down ranking them against each other. World Champion Vicky Holland will help us understand it better! Let’s go.

SLT SWIM:

  • All individual swim times across all formats ranked to give an average finishing position
  • Average finishing position given as a % of field
  • % of field used to give a score out of 10

SLT BIKE:

  • All individual bike times across all formats ranked to give an average finishing position
  • Average finishing position given as a % of field
  • % of field used to give a score out of 10

SLT RUN:

  • All individual run times across all formats ranked to give an average finishing position
  • Average finishing position given as a % of field
  • % of field used to give a score out of 10

TRANSITONS:

  • All individual transition times across all formats ranked to give an average finishing position
  • Average finishing position given as a % of field
  • % of field used to give a score out of 10

This is a great way of looking at how an athlete is performing in comparison to the other competitors based on their actual data from actual races! No relying on reputation or ego, simply performance.

PERFORMANCE:

  • Fastest individual SLT SWIM, SLT BIKE and SLT RUN each athlete has clocked so far
  • Fastest times then used to show how fast an athlete can go on their best day
  • Athletes ranked based on their fastest combined times
  • This ranking compared to real finishing position – UP/DOWN and by how much!
  • EXECUTION shows if an athlete is over / under performing on race day and who the real performers are

UNKNOWNS

If an athlete has UNKNOWN they have not competed in a SLT race yet and we will only know their scores once the season kicks off. We consider SLT racing so different to standard triathlon that we only like to use times from our events to generate our scores.

SEASON LONG

Once the season kicks off in Jersey we will be resetting the scoring system and basing scores only on the current season, ranking the set field against each other for a real time understanding of how all competitors are performing.

So you as a fan will be able to get an instant understanding of how an athlete is performing in their SLT SWIM, SLT BIKE, SLT RUN and TRANSITIONS by checking in on their athlete bio page.

You’ll also be able to see quickly who PERFORMS, leaving it all out there and getting better results than their potential shows us they should be getting. Who are the real racers!
